I just got a copy of it, and I heard its the final, but I also heard that there were hints of another smaller seed to be pushed out, which will be 6D52, so who knows, anyways, I'll put up a pic soon

Hm, the document number isn't valid anymore. Looks like they may have taken it down.
All I care about is if my Sonnet Tempo ATA/100 controller will work with this update! I paid $80 for it only to have it sit on my shelf because it crashes 10.2.

Dear voyagerd
To be honest, I can't see exactly which build it is. Build 6D42 also showed Mac OS X 10.2.1 in the "About this Mac" window.
Could you please klik on the "Version 10.2.1" to show wich build you have installed?
Tnx.

What's the word from those of you who have tried the 10.2.1 updates? Is it worth the trouble to go find these things? Do they allow for future updates?
thanks

Is Apple going to force us all to pay full price in order to upgrade Jaguar to 10.2.1? (Sorry, couldn't resist! ..................... )

Seriously, though ... does anyone have any idea when this will be offered as an official update d/l from Apple? I am curious about what the improvements are with USB and Firewire.

I heard 10.2.0 didn't take full advantage of quartz extreme, but that this would be fixed in 10.2.1 to deliver better performance. Is there a performance improvement?

I highly doubt it. I'm sure it'll just be a free download like the previous 10.1 updates.

Sorry for my previous post, I was unaware you were being facetious until after I posted.:)
There are some people on this board who have said much dumber things and were not joking..."What is the X for?"...:D

Yeah im rocking 6D51...though i had to use a DOWNGRADER to get rid of 6D46 which i suggest you all do if your using a previous version of 10.2.1 (build 44 or 46).

Think Secret says 'soon' <http://www.thinksecret.com/news/macosx10213.html>
however everyone has been saying soon since before jaguar was even on shelves.
doesnt look like 'soon' will be soon enough for me though.

Sorry i should have explained, there is a downgrader out that allows you to essentially erase the previous builds of 10.2.1 6D44 and 6D46 for soem reson there is problems if you try to go up to 6D51 from those builds of 10.2.1

Thats great, so if 6D51 is not the final I could use it (the downgrader) to downgrade and allow the final of 10.2.1 to install ok?
Can you post a link?
Thanks for the info :D

Thanks for the info :D This isn't exactly freeware that we're downloading. It's beta software covered under the Apple NDA. People just don't put up html links to it on their websites. That's asking for trouble.
The server communities to look for it on are Carracho and KDX.

I feel anyone who suggests that someone run any form of a prerelease operating system is doing that user and the manufacturer a great disservice. There are a great many reasons for this but you all know them.

i am very much in favor of sharing and exploring these sorts of things, however, in this case, as mc68k mentioned this is not freeware. it is software betas meant for distribution to beta testers and is covered under apple's NDA. discussion of how to obtain such material is not allowed in these forums.
and as a less moderatory note, you should never run such software as your main operating system. this is not distributed to the public for a very good reason (besides apple liking its secrets), it is not finished and could screw up your machines. if you feel you are experienced enough to test out betaware you should also be experienced enough to know that you should run this on a spare computer, drive, or partition and be damned careful to prevent loss of data. also if testing betaware is something you enjoy you should contact software developers with your feedback and let them know you would be interested in beta testing their software in the future. it might sound improbably but i think you woudl be surprised how open a company will be with their betas if you provide good feedback.
all that being said, please refrain from discussing the acquisition of materials such as these through anything but the legal routes. a public forum is not the best place for this and is not allowed on this particular public forum.

Hey! Steady on! I do happen to have ADC seed access, and was only asking what this 'downgrader' software was to ensure I don’t have to perform a clean install should a newer build come out, I’ve not installed any previous builds so have no experience with updating to newer builds of the same OS version.
Please do not jump to conclusions!
This question was asked with the best intentions I was however under the impression that the 'downgrader' software was legitimate.
And yes I'm aware of the NDA and feel that in no way have I contravened it.
Sorry for asking! jeez!

RE: 6D51 - Nice! Smooth.
There's a definite improvement in QE. I've never seen a computer look so good.
BTW - do not install these updates over another 10.2.1 update.
Does anyone know where the "X" image in the about box lives. I'd like to give it some furr : )
