I'm new to Mac OSX and was wondering if y'all could give me some tips.

First of all the whole user switching things is dandy and all, but is there a way to share iPhoto and iTunes libraries accross different accounts..?

Also, I changed some of my desktop icons. How exactly do I get the original icons back?

Also when uploading from a camera through iPhoto can you control where the files are placed? Is there a "last roll" kinda folder?

Also how come my end key doesn't take me to the end of a line?

Whoops too many questions there. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have another user so I can't comment on the accounts questions. However, from the top of my head:

Change the icons back by pressing COMMAND-I on the icon (app or whatever) and selecting the picture at the top and then pressing DELETE.

You can't choose where the photos go in iPhoto. It's got a pretty lame system of making sure it keeps all your photos in check but if you do everything through the program rather than the Finder, you should be fine. There is a 'last import' smart folder from memory too.

As for the end key, I think that's just one of the differences between Windows and Mac and I don't think it can be changed, but I could be wrong.

I hope you're enjoying your Mac. Sorry about the pretty vague info but I'm not near mine at the moment. :(

For sharing iTunes, choose who's library you want to be shared and move the whole iTues folder in the Music folder in their home directory to the 'Shared' folder on you hard disk. Then, click once on it and do 'make alias' from the file menu (same as 'create shortcut' in PC land). You'll get a folder shortcut called 'iTunes alias'. Next move this alias back to where the original iTunes folder came from, and rename it 'iTunes'. When you open iTunes, it will look in the music folder for the itunes folder and follow the alais to the shared folder. If you then repeat the process of making an alias and replacing the itunes folder for your other users, everyone will share the one library in Shared. You'll have to delete or move and reimport any other user's existing library. Not sure about iPhoto, but I expect the principle is the same.

Also when uploading from a camera through iPhoto can you control where the files are placed? Is there a "last roll" kinda folder?

My iPhoto has a 'last roll' right under the library on the left - what version are you using (not sure if this feature came with ilife 05). You can also turn on 'view film rolls' from the view menu.

Also how come my end key doesn't take me to the end of a line?
On my powerbook, end doubles as left - hitting it goes left one character, and hitting control + end goes to the end of the line.

I can't help with the iTunes and iPhoto questions, but the line end thing had me stumped for a while when I switched. If you press the Command key, the one with an apple on it, plus the Left/right arrow key it will take you to the end of a line. Command plus up/down key will take you to top/bottom of the page.

Something weird.. I came back after a little while and the computer was sleeping. After waking it up I find that the resolution was set to the default..?

Also, after deleting all the default bookmarks in Safari, they reappeared after sleeping..

I remeber seeing a screenshot a while ago where somebody had the character for Omega (?) as an icon. I can't find this icon anywhere, and using Option-Z doesn't work either. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks.

Option-Z works to type omega for me. I just typed one in this box, and it worked fine.

Also how come my end key doesn't take me to the end of a line?

Mainly because that's not how Mac home/end keys work. Home goes to the beginning of a doc and end goes to the end of a doc.
