Playing with iTunes Visualizer

Yeah, my girlfriend discovered some of that on her own after a month with iTunes and began asking me what the commands for visualizer and stuff was. And there I was sitting with a blank look on my face in confusion as I had never even had a clue that that was possible even though I've been using iTunes since version 1.0. Made me feel inept, yes it did.

Very nice, may have to give this a try. I got bored with it quickly, but if you can change things up then it might be worth the time.

I didn't really care to play around too much with the Visualizer when I found that you could do all that with it. Partially because I never use the Visualizer since I'm always running iTunes in the background. But I can see being able to lock the current configuration as useful when a good combination of settings come together for a song or album and you want to keep it until said song or album is over.

Though I did notice one thing that I didn't like about this feature of iTunes; Apple doesn't really advertise it as being their, especially within iTunes itself. I never knew about it and plus it left me in a predicament when my PC using girlfriend asked if iTunes is supposed to be more like a Mac program than a Windows program and easier, then why it didn't let her know she could do that and didn't give detailed help about doing this either. It doesn't help Apple any to bury features within an application so that nobody even knows it is there. I know it is all about keeping the interface clean and uncluttered, but couldn't they have a button pop up allowing you to work with the settings when you're running Visualizer in windowed mode? Sort of like how the iPod Options button pops up only when you have an iPod plugged in and selected in iTunes. And of course, accessible in the preferences menu. Oh well, that's my two or three cents worth.

Don't you ever just press buttons to see if they do anything? lots of apps have badly documented keyboard commands

Upon your suggestion, I have now concluded that those keys do nothing for Safari. ;)

But actually, no, I never do play with the buttons much. I guess I'm just naive about things.

Oh, and I learned that Control+Command+S apparently posts things on a message board. :rolleyes: Hence the need for a quick edit.

The only thing I dislike about the visualiser is that it only runs in 640x480 resolution. (Unless I've missed something - it happens!!) I have a lovely 20" ACD - I'd love it to run in native resolution...

No, you're right, it's really annoying. Especially since the whole thing stretches to fill a widescreen display, cover art then becomes pixillated (from enlargement) and stretched, leaving something that more closely resembles a MS software than Apple. I've been waiting for visualizer to at least support widescreen aspects for a while, if not larger resolutions, but every update brings nothing.

Well exactly! It's like, c'mon apple - my computer's not gonna explode if you use my 256MB graphics card now and then...! Or maybe it will... that could be the problem...!
