Every once in a while, when I hit F12 for Dashboard, it literally takes 20 seconds until it pops up. Why does it take so damn long? Like its shutting down Dashboard then totally relaunching it. Everything else is fast as lightning. Just dont get it

BTW- 15" PB. Specs are in the sig.

Thanks

As you only have 51Mb of RAM it's likely that Dashboard and all of the Widget processes have been paged out of RAM. If you get more RAM Dashboard (and the rest of your machine) will be much faster.

I have a 1.25Ghz 15" as well and have found that 1.5Gb is a comfortable amount of RAM.

If possible, try to upgrade the RAM to 1GB plus. Dashboard is a notorious RAM hog and 512MB is sometimes (obviously) not enough. :)

Also, deleting some of the widgets (or not making them active) should speed things up a little. But RAM will make the biggest difference.

Yup, more ram :)

When i got my powerbook i ran with the stock 512Mb for a week or so, and the dash did indeed take a long time to load if it was inactive for more than a few minutes. Now i have 1.5Gb and the dash, as well as everything else i use are working as smooth as you could ever want :D

Damn. I was hoping for a cheaper fix :) Looks like a 1GB stick will be here shortly. Thanks for the replies

There, there how will you survive with more ram :p

You should see a notable increase in speed, not just dashboard. Enjoy
