Macosxrumors.com has posted an article about a possible new iApp for Music authoring to debut at MWSF known as iTraks.
"According to some sources, Apple is about to launch a new audio production application that will probably be called "iTraks" (or "iTracks"? sources spell it "iTraks" though). That will be the first result of the purchase of Emagic by Apple. Actually it will be a "metal-brushed" version of Logic Audio with less features. Logic Audio will remain available as a professional audio tool.
Another source not only confirms the existence of a project that may be finally called "iTraks", but adds some details:
- iTraks will allow recording of 8 audio tracks and multiple midi tracks
- it will accept plug-ins and some of them will be offered as standard
- it's finalized and it may even be announced for MWSF or later in late January at the NAMM show.
- it will probably not be a free iApp."
This sounds pretty viable. We have been awaiting a result from the eMagic buyout and this would work. It also fits in with the rumors of a new iApp.
