From what I saw on the keynote, Safari opens to a page that has nothing but the Safari compass on it.

Default page is a blank page. Nice touch, Apple.

I think it initially uses whatever's in your internet preferences. You can change it within the browser as well, I think.

i know google is so great because they focus on web searching only, and not extras like email accounts, personalized content, etc, but it'd be really cool if Apple could team with them to create a livepage. Apple's Excite livepage just reeked, this one's not that much better... and why are they still using netscape? i mean, come on, they're your competitor now, why open to them by system default?
hell, why doesn't apple just make their own? a nice, simple, minimalist interface designed to compliment Safari, fully customizable. it'd be cool.

I think that Apple should have an awesome portal page as it's default page..... perhaps something that I could also log into eslewhere and access/manage all of my .Mac sites and whatnot? I guess it would be more like a .Mac portal, but you get the idea.

another redesigned livepage would be nice...my default homepage in safari was sourceforge.net (now apple.com)...I don't know why. Maybe it was because i set netscape's homepage to sourceforge.

Exactly! Does anyone know the URL for that homepage with the gigantic compass? If I had an icon bigger than 128x128 to work with, I'd make my own.

I don't know where they went to get it, but Safari did indeed go to livepage.apple.com the first time I opened it.
