anyone run into this...
using final cut 3.0.4 in jaguar
after a few minutes of working in a sequence, all of the sudden, whenever the play head is still the preview in the canvas is posterized. Colors really distorted. Playback is fine, but when the play head is parked the still image looks horrible.
ideas?
i'm on a G4 dual 500 with 1.75 GB ram

Hmm... that's weird. Step 1: Have you trashed yer preferences and rebooted yet?

yep...trashed prefs and its still doing it.
here's a screen grab...
on closer inspection, in looks like the image is also zoomed and posterized. again, playback is fine, but when stopped it looks like this...
what gives????

ok...it looks like it starts doing this as soon as i make an edit.
everything is fine if i just fly through the time line, but once i make an edit the video preview is wacked out whenever the play head is still.
this sucks.

Would you mind posting the solution to the problem when you figured it out? I haven't had that problem (YET -- knock on wood) and am very curious to learn the reason. Thanks!

thankfully this turned out to be something simple and STUPID.
somehow i had set my monitor color settings to 'thousands' instead of millions and believe it or not, i've tested this and verified that it was the cause of the problem.
go figure. still doesn't make a lot of sense that playback would be fine, but at least the problem is solved.

That's a relief... I would hate to run into the same problem while editing a big project and not know how to trouble-shoot. However, it's good to hear that you figured it out. Glad it wasn't something that would require a lot of work.
