I need to pull a quicktime video for a project that I am doing for class. The problem is, it seems like the quicktime movie is wrapped in another movie, so whenever I try to download it, all I actually get is the wrapper. The movie can be found here:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/video/nsn-wrap-new.mov

and where it is embedded can be found here:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/video/3209/q04.html

Any help on extracting this video would be great!

Ok I'll preface this by saying that the reason it uses the QT wrapper is because of right restrictions, which may make this problematic for you to use in class. If you open the downloaded file in QT it even tells you that and refuses to play, though you can use VLC and it bypasses all right management sectors making it viewable.

Because of the right restrictions on downloading, I'm not sure if this can/should be discussed here(honestly I'm not sure why pbs has right restrictions on it in the first place though so who knows.)

Though there is always a way to download media on the internet so I'll post this link here of someone encountering a similar dilemma as you that I found. It shouldn't take much work to modify his steps to download the one your looking for (just need to modify the numbers and possibly the base url). >> Link.
