I have some photos taken on my digital camera that were taken recently, that are labeled as 2000 cos the date stamp on my camera wasn't set..

Therefore iPhoto thinks they should go in the 2000 folder, which is obviusly wrong.

How is best to redate the creation date of digital photos so iPhoto organises them properly?

Thanx!! :)

In iPhoto make sure the information pane is showing (the i symbol in the bottom left should be highlighted blue).

Select the image you want to edit (one at a time). Edit the date.

Done.

Anyone know of an Automator script that can do this? Cause I have this problem too, but it is very slow and boring to do one by one in iPhoto.

man do I feel stupid now!
Just select the photos that are in the wrong year... (iPhoto > Photos > Batch Change, to Date :D)

All I need for my puruposes is to-the-decade acuracy (scanning in 2,500+ old family photos) so this works for me, I dont need to be really all that accurate

Edit: problem is NOT solved!!!

If I set the date to too far back, iPhoto just throws it into the "Early Photos" calendar. If I can't change this I'll end up with some 2,000+ photos that are "Early" argh!

Macit, how far back are you going? I am doing the same thing, scanning in old photos. I have one from 1951 that shows up correctly.

I wasn't going earlier than 1951, about the same time in fact.

I know it's two years later  :D but if it counts I don't seem to have this problem in iLife 08'
