Leopard vs OS X

I have a 14" iBook G4, and I love it. But the new OS coming out sounds pretty awesome. When it does, is it possible to put Leopard on my iBook? I don't really get how that works. :o

When it comes out, you go to your local store, and buy it.

It should be about $129.99

then you install it.

Go on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen and click ABOUT THIS MAC.

Yes, Leopard will run on your iBook.

You just buy it, put in the CD, upgrade, and you're done :)

Unlike with Windows, where new OS's run slower on older hardware, you'll likely see a decent increase in performance :)

I've got a qu - am I right in thinking that software for Intel-based Macs has to be written differently to PowerPC-based Macs? If so, will there be two different versions to buy of Leotard?

For the most part, no, the compiler takes care of the differences. For the edge cases (and there are edge cases), yes, they had to rewrite some parts.

Right, Leotard for PowerPC and Tutu for Intel ;) No, they can package the two together, and Apple have already done that with Tiger.

Mac OSX is the name of the operating system as a whole, the standard I guess - like Windows from Microsoft.

The we have Tiger (the name of the current 'edition' of Mac OSX) like Windows has 'XP'.

Next we (Mac OSX users) have Leopard, and Windows has 'Vista'.

So, its Tiger vs. Leopard. ;)
