iTunes is not cocoa, I think, i heard something like this the other day. It cant be changed like that I dont think. I have demetalizer and it wont change it, so i think it will stay the way it is, unfortunately. I wish you could add skins to iTunes. Maybe they will do that for iTunes 4.

These iApps have the interface theme actually built into the program (no idea why). You may be able to edit the resources manually, but it will be more of a pain than it is ever worth.

you could just type 'metal' into the search box of the iTunes window, then delete all the mullet-sporting tracks that appear...

can't you just take one of the resources from an aqua app and replace it with the one in the metal app?
and if this is true, can someone tell me where this resource is?

if you flip the data/resource fork of the iTunes.rsrc file and then open it in resedit, you can change the pattern that itunes uses as its background, but that's about it. it will still have the center highlight. itunes is carbon since it was origionally created for classic and does not yet use a nib-based interface like cocoa apps (although i hope version 4 does). the brushed metal appearance did not become standard until 10.2, so apps that only work in 10.2 like ichat/isync/ical use the textured window appearance and can be changed very easily with the dev tools (or metalifizer). itunes/quicktime/imovie use custom look-alike interfaces that have to be updated with each release (that's why none of them have the sunken widgets yet). iphoto uses a custom look-alike interface only to maintain compatability with 10.1. so the short answer is, no. hopefully by 10.3, all the carbon apps apple ships will be nib-based and we can customize them like crazy. i would, however, suggest ifix2 (http://homepage.mac.com/littlestar/otherstuff.html) to make itunes and quicktime look a bit more 10.2-esque.
