Everyone download this and help it grow. It's the closest thing we'll ever get to Kazaa and it's good for a beta 5 version.

whoa, i did not realize that a binary had been released yet. the last time i checked, you had to pull the source down from the cvs and build it yourself. xnap is supposed to support this sometime soon, which will make it even more usefull, but it's great to have a native (i.e. non-java) version. i may have to check this out...

I love the GUi, i did a few commmon searches and i got decent results. Its not quite everything kazaa has but it looks liek it has potential.

not bad...the interface doesnt suck. thats a definite bonus for a beta quality OSS. the amount of users on the servers isnt all too high, but from what it seems, it is an open source implementation of a kazaa-like protocol. as many users as there already are is nice.

I couldn't figure out what daemon to search with. I assume that's ome kind of address but I couldn't find any sources or lists anywhere making the app useless.

would you guys reccommend it? or should i just stick with crappy limewire. the interface on that doesn't seem too bad, i think i'll give it a try.

I tried local daemon and I still can't get the gift daemon to 'start'. It brings up the sheet for 'updating' then goes away and does nothing.

sparkytone- Can you explain how you got it running?

it works for me...and they shut down the ports and protocals that kazaa on pcs uses on my school's network!

I havent downloaded it yet, but does this use the Fast Track server (like KazAa), or something else? I have tried about 4 Gnuetella (spelling?) programs, and I cant get the files I want. Are there any progs that use the KazAa network?

i just ran the program and it worked. it said it was updating and then it just worked. if you are behind a firewall/router that may be your problem. my iBook is the DMZ Host so i dont have to worry about it.

OGG is just another audio compression codec like mp3 or AAC

download this
http://aleron.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/qtcomponents/MacOSX-OggVorbis.sit
and put it into your ~/Library/Quicktime folder (or /Library/Quicktime). log out and back in and you will then be able to play ogg files in any quicktime app (finder preview, itunes, etc.)

Its amasing how no one answers you... :(

Well it seems to work, decently.

Better than slow as hell Limewire. (unless you get pro/other (http://baghira.han.de/~jum/) )

I downloaded it, but when I searched, I couldn't get results for anything, even "Britney Spears"(I only did that to see if it would work;))

Not a bad program in my opinion. At first it i couldn't get it to work but then it just started working. Now the only thing i can't figure it is how to do multiple downloads at one time. Can this be done? Or is this just a temporary limitation because of the beta status?
