Fast user switching with no password

I've looked around a little figured out how to switch without having to type the password (by having a blank password). But then people say its dangerous because anyone can install software or see your files or whatever. SO MY QUESTION IS: Would this make my computer vulnerable over the internet with people being able to hack into it or whatever they do? Or is it just a local thing. People will be able to sit at my actual computer and see my stuff.

I'm asking because its just me and my wife that use the computer so I'm not worried about her seeing anything, I just want to make sure I'm not leaving my computer open to anyone on the internet. Phew that was long. Thanks for the help.:D

If it's mainly used at home by you and your wife then you'll have no worries.
If it's gonna be mobile then i'd password protect it. Unless you are giving out your tcp/ip to everyone then you'll never have a issue. If you want to be extra carefull you could activate File Vault, that way all your data would be encrypted. Btw, macs very rarely get haked or messed with.

What I've heard is the best thing to do is create an Administrator with a password, and then all other users as a Limited user. It lets you use everything, but makes you enter the administrator password whenever you install anything. So then it wouldn't make a difference if you don't have a password to switch between you and your wife's accounts because OSX will be protected by the Administrator password.
