I don't know this is known in the community, but I just found it out.
On my macbook, with firefox (I haven't tried Safari), if I hold the option key (alt), and use two finger scroll, scrolling down is back, and scrolling up is forward. Its easier than apple+[ and apple+]

It only works on Firefox for me. I'm a Safari user, but I've gotten so used to hitting Command-Left and Command-Right that I doubt I'd use it anyway, since it requires the use of another hand.
Neat trick though.

OK, if you press CTRL and scroll with 2 fingers it zooms in and out of the screen.
Have to enable feature in universal access

Yeah, Cmd-Left and Cmd-Right are much faster.

And if you hold CMD - CTRL - D and mouse around, you get live definitions.
Totally unrelated, I know, but I just saw it on digg. ;)

I use Camino, and it's working.
Personally... I just prefer clicking the "Back" button.
Occasionally I use Command + Left / Right.

That is my favorite OS X feature. It is so convenient that it has increased my english vocabulary profoundly.

For the last few weeks, I've had to work exclusively in Windows on my MacBook. My vocabulery...vocebu...vacabu... my list of words is very small... :(
I'm really starting to miss these features. I keep doing the two fingered scrolling (or hitting the Expose keys) and being surprised when they don't work.

I know how you feel...
I have a Windows PC and (new) a Macbook Pro.
I always quit applications when I only want an @ or I'm typing @s when I want to quit an application.

Really nice thing, but looks like an "english only" thing. Where can I set up a different language?

If it helps, the word doesn't have to be highlighted, the mouse cursor has to actually be sitting over the word, highlighted or not. And I think it has to be a cocoa app.

I am amazed that you (yes you specifically) didn't know this! Especially when you consider how much I have learned about the Classic OS from yourself ;) .
I use it all the time when someone on macrumors attempts to get an advanced vocabulary and use large words. The funny thing is, many people use words incorrectly (including myself at times).
to go back to a previous webpage in safari all you need to do is hit the delete key.
An other cool os X trick is hitting <control><option><command><8> It makes a big change... go back to the way your world was before.. just repeat the key command :) !

I was reading this thread and thinking to myself, why dont people just use the Delete key ? And I fully intended on letting everyone know. But you beat me to it. But what you didnt say was Shift+Delete sends you forward! bwahaha that is all.

I still find Command-L/R the best, particularly when surfing on a notebook using the trackpad. I barely have to move my hand to hit the keys. When I'm at my desk I use an MX1000, and I have Command-L/R mapped to two of the buttons, which makes things even faster.

It doesn't work for me? What's going on? 10.4.8 MacBook here... (CMD is the Apple button right?)
Also, I like this
Ctrl + alt and double scrolling upwards/downwards increases or decreases the text size in Firefox (same as CMD +, _ , 0)

I like moving background windows without bringing them to the foreground by just Command+dragging their title bars. You can also browse the Safari windows history by Command+clicking on the name in the title window to get a pop-down list of that window's browsing history. :)
