View Full Version : Quick Qustion about passwording a folder

is there anyway to set up a password on a particular folder? like in order to open it or edit it you have to enter a password? ive looked everywere and cant seem to find the answer, ive tried firevault but that just locks the whole home folder correct? sorry for the n00b question

Use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image. This will allow you to create a password protected "virtual" drive that you can store documents and data in. If you need more info just say so...

i actually just did that last night for the first time. It's pretty cool. Remember to use a sparse image if you don't want the entire storage size allocated regardless of what you have actually placed in the file.

How do you do and encrypted disc image when I try it it says 'unable to create "insert file name.dmg" resources busy.

Mmm... Where are you trying to make the image? Make sure you're making it inside a writable folder. Make sure it doesn't have the same name as an image you already have mounted, also.
