i read tha sticky fi install tiger sans dvd. i got tha idea it might imply that you could change a setting allowing tha mac ta boot from usb so as ta not use firewire.

IS IT POSSIBLE AT ALL?

WHAT IF YOU HAVE A PCI USB 2.O CARD?

I believe you can boot from USB on the Intel Macs. It's not possible on PPC ones.

I think there's something to do with the inner workings of the USB technology that prevents someone from booting from it, unlike FireWire. It might be something to do with USB being Master/Slave and FireWire being Peer-to-Peer. I'm not entirely sure though, so don't hold me to it. ;)
