Bootcamp and dual cores

I have statistics software which really needs a dual-core processor to run in a reasonable amount of time. I'd like to buy a new Mac and install Windows XP using bootcamp, but I want to make sure it will recognize and use the Core 2 Duo. Can anyone verify this for me?

I've seen references to it in the forums, but want to be sure before I plunk down the cash.
