ATI does seem to hold an advantage over Nvidia in the battle of video cards.

ati held an advantage but now the 5900 fx is blowing ati and the 5800 away. so this round goes back to nvidea. but a 9800 or 5900 are selling on the pc side for $499. How much you willing to pay for the card and will your cpu be able to feed it.

i have no enthusiasm because i really dont care. video cards in my macs doesnt matter to me because i have a pc for my games. all i am doing is stating the truth, looks how long it took us to get the 9700, and i still dont think you can get it by itself yet.

well i take it back then, i do care. i dont care personally because i have my pc. but on my business scale i do care because that is one more things i can make money one. i just doubt very few mac gamers will shell out 500 dollars for a card most mac games cant take advantage of.

It's a luxury having a fast PC (for gaming) AND a fast Mac.
Usually people only have one fast computer.... So having a fast Mac is nice, but not being able to get a Radeon 9700 (let alone the 9800) is quite frustrating... I know, I'm trying to get a 9700 at this moment....
So IF this 9800 Pro (256 MB VRAM) would be coming to the Mac shortly after the introduction of the 970..... that'll be gr8 news!

i think the most furstrating thing about mac video card are pricing. if you buy a ati 9000 pro card for mac your spending 170 if you buy the same for pc your spending under 100. this seems true for most ati cards

Here's the thing tho, the major market for video cards will be the ones sold in the sub $200. Currently, few games even take advantage of the top of the line cards out now (i.e. ATI Radeon 9800 and GeforceFX). The only reason why their is so much hype regarding these two fantastic cards is both companies are fighting to see when the dust settles, who has the fastest video card. Be happy that both companies have started to step up producing products for the Macintosh platform. It was only till recently Nvidia shipped their cards in Macs and ATI has started releasing cards mucho better than that lame ATI Rage 128 series for the Macintosh. Whilst it's not a perfect eutopia, it certainly is a step in the right direction.

The Nvidia 5900 is only a bit faster than the ATI 9800, Nvidia has actually been fidelling the drivers so the quality of the graphics is not as good as the ATI at the same settings, therefore the Nvidia scores higher becasue it has to process less.
