Mac OS XI?

With Panther on the horizons I thought I'd ask ya 'all about when/if Apple will move on to version 11 (XI) of the Mac OS. Seems to me they've got such a big marketing campaign going with X I wonder if they'll just keep making updates like 10.4, 10.9, 10.13, etc. though that seems silly. Anyway, what do you predict?

1) When do they cut line and go to 11

2) Will it be OS XI or go back to 11, or something different entirely a la Windows ME, XP

3) What do you think would be a major change to the OS that would warrant a complete version update, considering nothing much else changes from Jaguar/Panther

Considering that Jaguar was released last summer, and that Panther will at the earliest be released this summer...at this rate, they can ride the OS X wave for 6 more years. I'm sure that within the next 6 years some radical changes will have occurred in the computer market as a whole. It's not really worth it to speculate.

One other possibility is that it might remain Mac OSX when it moves to 11. This might sound confusing, but the way I see it, you have Mac OS (the classic OS) and Mac OSX (the new OS) So I could see something like Mac OSX v.11.0 I would speculate that they might cut the line to version 11 after 10.5, but that is years away so who knows...

I don't see that happening as by that time there marketing campaign will have lost all momentum and OSX will seem like old dirt. I don't expect them to keep OSX for too much longer maybe 2005 at the latest. The electronics/software market is pretty flighty and when they have been hearing the same name over and over for years they quit hearing it so you have to change or be left in the dust.

Hey thanks for all the replies, I had a thought talking about OS XI this early on is kind of rediculous, then again you always hear about G7's and 8GHz multi-cored processors once in a while so I thought I'd throw this in, besides I had someone ask me the other day about why Mac OS was already at 10 when windows is only on 5.1.

Not rediculous at all in fact this topic has already been discussed.

Here's the original thread. I could not find it searching the boards using the built in engine as the friggin thing is limited and won't let you search for any word of 2 letters or less. I used Google instead and it found it like a charm. Here it is.
