Hello,
I'm brand new to a mac and have MBpro (core 2 duo) and run parallels for a lot of things.

I was wondering if I bring my .wmv videos over, will they have the tumbnail icons in the folder so I can see visually what each video is? like the first screen shot of each video?

like it is on windows...

Please let me know if there is a way to set up my apple folders like this. Thanks!

T

If you install flip4mac WMV you can get full previews in column mode :)

First off, you'll need Flip4Mac (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx) to play WMV files on your Mac.

Secondly, the icons won't by default show thumbnails of the movie, but if you're in column view, clicking on the icon will show a preview (the first frame of the movie) in the next column, one at a time.

so isn't that less progressive than windows? must be a first.

This is one of the things that when I switched, I found surprising. But what could I do - it was a good trade off. :D

The lack of icon previews would be forgivable if QuickTime wasn't so damn slow at loading up WMV3 files most of the time.

Eh, the first time you minimize QuickTime to the dock and notice you can still see your video playing on the dock icon, you'll forget all about it. ;)

Try VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

VLC is okay, but I prefer the weird Intel version of Mplayer - it has better forward skipping with the cursor keys. You know. For when you want to watch a movie which has lots of good bits, but spaced out. Alone.

Visual Hub allows you to convert to and from WMVs...
