Hey all.
I've just gotten a bunch of PDF files here, and for some reason are alias files, I know they actually arn't alias files, because they are all at least 1 meg, some as large a 5. I've tried Several Creator Code changing utilities, and no luck, I'm still unable to open them. the "kind" info still remains "alias"

Does any one know of a way to change this info so I can actually open these files.

thanks in advnace!

first off, you need to change the file type code, not the creator code-- same format, different thing. Doesn't really matter which program 'created' the file, if the computer thinks it's a different type of file. Also, we need to know your OS-- if it's OS X, .pdf should fix it... OS 9, it might help...

yeah. it has the .pdf suffix, the writing is in italics like most aliases are etc..
they are currently on an os9 machine, but I've got both x and 9 accesible.

I cant seem to find a program that will let me change the file type code.

I know the answer has be answered already but you can always use ResEdit, my favorite unsupported tool :)

Glad to hear you got it fixed. If memory serves correctly, a good way to do this without extra software is to delete the suffix, deselect the icon, then add it again-- if the file suffix is properly configured in the system settings (i don't remember which control panel), it the computer should recognize the new suffix and adjust the filetype automatically...

had this problem with MP3's downloaded sometimes, they would be a slightly different filetype code than what MacAmp (this was pre-itunes) wanted to see...
