Safari 1.0 is the worst!

Safari 1.0 was great for the week or so I have been using it, but as of today, any time I try to submit information, download a .dmg or just open the MacAddict forums, it quits. I don't know why, I reinstalled Safari, even reverted to older versions, which all said they expired today. Is there anything else I can do? Is there a site that features the release of Safari right before this one? This is out of control. I don't like Mozilla, and I have extreme dislike for IE. I want my Safari and I want it now! I am surprised Safari even let me post this message.

Well, rather then saying Safari is the worst because only you are having this issue is a bit over dramatic and unnecessary. Why not simply ask for help with Safari?

As stated above, I'd trash the user/library/prefs and see how that goes.

I had a problem with Safari. Actually, right now I have the refresh/reload problem than many others have, but I used to have a worse problem.

Something must have gotten corrupted because Safari wouldn't download anything. Even a simple PDF, it would try to download, but then fail. It didn't even give the PDF icon to the file. I ended up reinstalling Mac OS X (Not just for Safari). I am very glad I did because now Safari opens in 1 bounce like it used to. Everything is much faster after an OS install. :)

Are you on an airport network? I fixed my refresh/reload problem by repairing permissions, restarting my computer, and then restarting my Airport base station. It all works like a charm now.

Try the "Reset Safari..." on the application menu. That fixed all of my problems with 1.0.

I did all of those afromented suggestions before I did my initial post. I should have mentioned that. I think I need to do some other system stuff anyways. I need to defrag some things..... I have been editing a lot of videos this past week.

make no mistake, this version 1 is pretty bad. it's slow, it's heavy, it renders things incorrectly, creates a host of errors, etc. i definitely feel like i've had a better experience with several of the betas... if they don't address this soon, i might have to tear it out and go back to an earlier version.

In MY opinion, Safari. (1.0 Beta 2 (v74) that is.):D

I was so ready to get my hands on the final version after the betas, but I held off because EVERY Apple enthusiast knows the golden rule:

"Stay away from all non-beta software that ends with a .0"

OS 7.0 was horrible. 7.6.1 was da bomb. OS 8.0 was a mess. 8.5.3 and especially 8.6.1 were cool. OS 9.0 was a slug. 9.1 and, finally, 9.2.2 got it totally together. And we all know what OS X had to go through to get it to Jaguar 10.2.6, which is the best of all.

So I keep my beta Safari. I'm very happy with it. I'll wait for all the suffering of which I don't wish to be a part of is over, then go for the 1.x.x release.

Safari works fine here, reset safari, delete the prefs, and repair permissions.

Have you deleted the Safari Conduits? Use Cmd+F for it.

I recently began using Safari 1.0 and first thing I noticed was that it does not have a little security icon (little lock icon on bottom of windows on other browsers). It seems like Safari 1.0 does provide secure connection and it only gives you warning if you are about to send information insecurely.

I don't know why, maybe I'm used to those little security icons that assures me that the data transfer is secure, but Safari not having that icon makes it appear less reliable somehow. I think security is important and they should make secure connection more apparent so user can feel more comfortable.

In Safari, the little lock icon you're referring to appears in the upper right hand corner of the window.

I was looking at this thread and thought, naaa, won't happen to me, and well today it died. I can start it up and it will get half way to mail.yahoo.com before quitting. I have reset, emptied cash, prefs, all the folders, reinstalled, repaired permissions and fscy -y, same problem. Going to have to use Camino now.

Not having read any of this forum, I apologize. However my anger at not being able to load any pages that use pop-up menus for redirection where I might want to purchase something is getting a little out of hand.

I'm going to click 'post' it might relieve me a little, and then I'm going to find somewhere else to moan about it.

I *hate* having to load internet explorer when I want to see what price an item is going for, or to purchase it.
