Creating my own customized Mac OS X Install DVD?

Does anyone know a method of creating my own customized Mac OS X Install DVD? I would love to 'slipstream' and create an up to date, 10.4.9 install DVD along with my favourite apps and utilities. Is this possible? Install all the updates after a clean install is such a hassle.

I know I could create a partition on my external HD and mirror that when I want a clean install, but a up-to-date DVD would be much more convenient.

It'd probably be easier just to make an image using NetRestore (http://www.bombich.com/software/netrestore.html).

At the moment it can't be done. There is (was) a program called Slipy that would allow you to do this with 10.3 but development of it has been stopped for a few years now.

I'd still go with an image. About 1 GB a minute (20-22 minutes) over my external FW400 drive. My current image is around 22 GB at 9 GB compressed.

That's with a bare OS X installation on the external drive and the image itself.
