Install for iTunes 7.3 not working

I've tried to install it via the Software Update and I've tried by downloading off of apple.com and each time it gets caught up on the installation part. I've restarted the computer and tried again to no avail. I get no error, it just never advances. I even left the computer on all night to see if it was slow for some reason with and there was zero progress.
Any ideas guys?

tried trashing the itunes .pkg and that didn't work either.
I'm at a loss.
