Best console for drunks?

I need help choosing a console. I'm not a serious gamer, it will only ever be used for multiplayer when I have friends over and we're just mucking around and drinking. What console and which games would be best?

the Wii would be ideal for a drunk - alot of movement with the hands and feet, and when you get mad with it you can lob the controller at the nearest wall for a satisfying smashing experiance :D

Just make sure to:

A) Drink Many Shots,

B) ALWAYS use the wrist strap. Seriously.

I suspect a Wii could be very entertaining, what with all those drunken limbs flailing about. Mind, it could be a little dangerous too, what with all those drunken limbs flailing about.

I cannot understate how much fun it is having a bunch of friends over to my dorm to play wii tennis and bowling, completely inebriated. ;)

I'm usually playing my PS3 when drunk. A nice online game of Resistance or RB6 while drunk is great, plus killin teh Riggz is all that more fun while drunk :p

I've played Paper Mario a few times while drunk, Wii sports was nil fun while drunk, and Mario Party was slightly amusing.

Online games are fun while drunk, something that the Wii seriously lacks.

Are you talking only of current consoles? Or are you looking to get something through eBay?

I would have to unfortunately say Wii if you are only talking about current consoles.

I say unfortunately because I could see alot of bad coming from flailing drunk arms about. People getting hit, Wii-motes flying through the air, through windows or TV screens...Could be bad.

Also be careful if you guys are drinking and playing any Wii sports title right in front of a coffee table or something. I haven't had any drinks knocked over yet but I did have a buddy send a large bowl of chips sailing across the room when playing Wii bowling...I was still finding chips behind the TV 3 months later.

Wii would probably be the best because of all the movement. However, Geometry Wars on the 360 would be pretty interesting too, with all the trippy-ness and flashing colors. There's a Wii version coming later, too, and probably requires less motor control.

But I've never been drunk (by choice, not lack of opportunity), so I really don't know what is fun while drunk. Meh.

being a little intoxicated make games quite fun... no online on the wii makes it that much better because you have to be drinking and playing WITH people in the same house. Watching eachother playing the wii is the best part about it.

definitely wii. In terms of games, i'd stick with wii sports and wario ware smooth moves...both ridiculously fun when drunk, in fact, I played the latter drunk with some friends last night...hilarious times!!

GameCube, and, I guess now, Wii - anything that can play SSMB wins instantly.

As for the best to play to be the best when drunk, a mate of mine seems to get even better at Halo 2 after a few pints (doesn't seem to work so well on Gears, though :D)

Well, I'd beg to differ that there is no debate here except for the fact that the OP stated that they're not a hardcore gamer. Since the system will likely only be used for a couple games here and there, the Wii is probably best - still I'll give my 2 cents.


While the wii is great for involving people - girls mostly - that you want to get involved (especially when drinking), some of the most fun I've had with the other gamers is online xbox live while drunk.

In my opinion it all depends on who you're drinking with... if you're a gamer, then fragging people in Gears, Halo 3 (beta was fun), Perfect Dark Zero even has been pretty awesome for me.

But there's no denying it, its still fun to play wiisports with a few chicks who otherwise wouldn't touch a controller. The downside is, you still have to treat them like you would on a normal system, since just because they'll pick up the controller doesn't mean theyre competitive...

I second the GameCube. Cheap system and games, for one. Even at $250 the Wii is pretty pricey for something that won't get much use. Super Monkey Ball 2 is great fun with friends while drinking, Mario Party 7 (with the mic) is great for drunks, Mario Kart is classic drunken party game... I'm probably forgetting a few really good ones, but those three are really the best party games for any situation.

Oh, WarioWare is probably a good drunk game, too.

Wii is fun but definitely dangerous. A friend of mine put his hand through a lightbulb playing Wii Tennis, totally sober.

I'd say N64. They're cheap so you don't cry when you break it and it has classic stand-bys like Goldeneye, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros.

also cs:s has no ridiculous over the top weapons (bio rifle anyone) which are simply more fun drunk

and actually some people can play UT better when drunk because it's more forgiving

at least for LANs.. perhaps when playing alone over the internet it might be better

Wii probably but I would have to also say 360 with Halo. Nothing beats playing Halo 2 drunk online with random people.

Guitar Hero II is also fun drunk.

CS:S Deathmatches are common, man, theyre all over the place. The best drunk cs:s game is turbo gun game, reverse style.

Maybe it is more fun for me because I play seriously all the time, unless I am drunk, in which case I can just mess around.

I dont drink. But just the fact of that is scary!
