View Full Version : quickly copying full paths from finder - how to?

Surely there has to be a way to open Finder, navigate to a file, and then quickly copy the full path of any file to the clipboard for pasting somewhere else. I've been using a Mac since December last year, and not knowing how to do this has GOT to be the single most "slow me down" thing I can think of.

Free cold beverage to the first responder, next time I'm in your town or you in mine!

Thanks, Todd

If you're using a terminal then just drag the file into the window and the path will auto-fill.

I use terminal, and I've done that, but I'm looking for a more general purpose method. I'm typically in some flavor of editor, email, form or browser session when I need it.

I think at one point I had a contextual menu plugin that did this for selected files (not sure about folders). Might want to search Macupdate.
