2 Game controllers will only operate 1 player

I have two logitech game controllers hooked up to my mac. I have tried USB Overdrive and Gamepad Companion. I have programmed each controller to match the keyboard keys for both player 1 and 2. But when I go to use it, both controllers only control player 1. I cannot figure how to make the second controller operate player 2. I have the controllers plugged into two different usb ports on the back of the computer. Am I going to have to buy a different brand for the second controller? Would using a usb to firewire adapter for one of the controllers allow the machine to understand that they are not the same controller? I've spent hours fiddling with this. Help!

As far as I know, there is no such thing as an USB to FireWire adaptor. Even if there was, I doubt that it would make much of a difference.

What game and gamepads are you trying to use together? Does the second player work on the keyboard in the game? It's possible that there could be a programming bug with the game.

USB overdrive sent me this message about my question to them.

"If you wait just a little more, the new version of the USB Overdrive
that I am currently working on will support separate settings for
multiple controllers. The current version won't help even if you have
two controllers with two different brands."

Does it work without USB Overdrive - that is, using Apple's built-in HID Manager, accessed through whatever game you're playing? I've often mapped inputs to a joypad just with the HID Manager (and have often wondered how 2 controllers would work!)

Try disabling USB Overdrive if you can.

You could also try ControllerMate--it has a limited free trial and supports multiples of the same brand. I use it with my single Logitech gamepad.

yeah i looked at that and it seemed fairly complex,but then again maybe its just me:)

It is complex--VERY powerful, and very quick and easy once you learn it, but it may be overkill to spend the time to get into it. Still, it was worth it for me!

I just downloaded GAMEPAD COMPANION and USB OVERERDRIVE for my Imac but both are $20 and I don't even know if they will even work with my logitech Dual Action™ Gamepad playing BF 2142. What are you Game Headz using playing fist prison shooter games on are Mac?
