This is not a rumor.
According to this Seattle Times article, (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2001532253_worm16.html) M$ has shutdown its WindowsUpdate site in order to foil the Blaster worm. According to Netcraft, (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=www.windowsupdate.com) M$ replaced its Windows 2003 server running IIS with an Akamai Linux server running AkamaiGHost.

"Hey, I'm Bill...I'm tired of having to deal with patching up my poor attempt of an OS and passing it off as the next best thing...it's becoming a joke now, I cannot even run my own company off of my own product anymore. In order to take over the world, I decided I needed something better than...crap...I'm Bill and I'm a switcher."

Man, if my Xbox gets a virus, I am so giving up on MS completely...I've been wondering that since Xbox live uses broadband and the Xbox itself has a HD...and the Xbox runs on a stripped down Windows OS...that can't be good odds. I dunno, I usually keep it disconnected when I am not using it, though. I've noticed my Xbox has been freezing like crazy on me lately, but that could just be scratched discs.

Imagine what would have happened if the virus was programmed to flood microsoft.com itself, or both microsoft.com and windowsupdate.com simultaniously.:D
