I've had my mac about a month now, and I use Mail exclusively. Suddenly, over the past few days, I've been getting this pop up screen which is entitled, "Confirm Access to Keychain."

The message asks "mail wants permission to decrypt smtp.mac.com in keychain fjs."

It asks to either Deny, Allow once, or Allow Always.

What's this and what is the recommended answer???

Thanks

Frank

Allow always... This will stop the message from appearing most of the time.

Thanks for the quick reply, but why did the messge all of a sudden come about, and what is it talking about??/

Did you possibly install some system software update recently? In my experience, this resets some keychain stuff.

Hmm,

I wonder if it was some upgrade that I let install?? No matter, I guess, everything works ok..

Thanks.

From Mac OS Help:Why am I asked to unlock my keychain?

An application wants access to a password in your keychain, but your keychain is locked.

Normally, your default keychain, which has the same name and password as your Mac OS X user account, is unlocked for you when you log in.

However, it may be locked automatically after a period of inactivity, and you'll need to provide the password to unlock it again.

To set when your keychain is automatically locked, open Keychain Access and choose Settings for your keychain from the Edit menu. You can run the Keychain Access application (in the Utilities folder) to see and set your keychain options, including the timeout time.
