help! can't send using "Mail" app

I can receive email in the mail app (im assuming this is because i have a good incoming server?) but when i try to send it doesnt work, i think because of the outgoing sever. here's the message i get for my aol accounts:

So it is only the aol accounts that mess up?

Furthermore, does AOL have information listed on their website on how to set up POP access and use a client like Mail? Do you have authentication turned on for the outgoing mail?
