Unfortunately no. It only comes with new computers and it does not come with the operating system.

IMO there should be a ilife and leopard pack together for 20 or 30 dollar reduction.

Where are they getting 9GB then? iLife 08 takes only 3 GB. Does anybody know what the latest beta took up in space with a max install?

new Macs come with the install discs for iLife '08 as well though, right? I would assume yes, since it's pre-loaded, but I just want to make sure (haven't bought my Mac yet, so I don't have a box I can look in myself :)).

It comes as a package on the OS X install disk that came with the computer.

The only computers that come with both iLife 07 and iLife 08 are ones that were manufactured right around the time of iLife 08's release -- they have an extra "drop in" disc that just has iLife 08, typically, and then they have iLife 07 on the system install/restore DVDs.

Right now, they come with just Tiger and iLife 08 (plus the discount). When Leopard is released, they will come with Leopard + iLife 08.

Too bad it doesn't come with iLife '08. I thought the "full package" Steve was talking about would be OS X and iLife.

So, what did he mean by that?

It means the full functunality of Leopard. Unlike Vista where there are varying versions, and different functionality. Packaging iLife with Leopard would be like microsoft giving you Office suite when you bought an OS.

actually, there were no computers that were shipped with ilife 07 in any form, because there was no ilife 07. substitute 06 in place of 07, and mrkrishnan's post is perfect.

I'm sure Amazon would be willing to do that. You should suggest it to them.

i'm not sure about this, but i think apple is the only only one who can give you a reasonable reduction with getting as a company a little bit profit.
At wich price would Amazon Buy Leopard versions?

Them showing iLife 08 as if you upgrade to leopard is what your gonna get in this picture without any hardware showing I think is kind of a misrepresentation. Where is the iDvd and iWeb icons? I could understand if they are superimposing onto a computer screen of new hardware, but they are advertising a new OS.

Considering all computers ship with a version of iLife, I think it's perfectly fair.

You can re-install iLife from the DVD, and I would assume you can re-download iWork.

Either that, or you can install iWork from the demo CD that came with iLife. Then just enter your serial number.

You can install iLife and iWork by clicking "Install Bundled Software" on the first restore DVD.

Yup. I just popped in my iMac restore cds and you have the option of just installing bundled software (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, etc). Its a good thing, cause it would have really pissed me off if I installed Leopard and found out I didnt have a way of installing iLife and such ;)

you wont have to if you upgrade or archive and install. it leaves all your applications and files in place. you only have to reinstall iwork or ilife if you erase and install. to reintsall ilife just put in the install dvd that came with your mac and click on install bundled software only and install ilife

I believe that the demo of iWork is the full program, just that it deactivate after 30 days. I think there will be an iWork demo on the Leopard disc, if not, you still have it on your actual restore DVDs that come with your mac.

Anyway, you should be able to activate full version of iWork with the same serial, key (whatever) Apple gave to you when you purchased it.

one more question...

what if I only want iLife? I don't want Aperture trail, iWork and things like that.. the installer didn't seem to givemme an option:confused:

well, that's a bit of a shame...

It's not really a shame when it only cost $129.00 Even if you put together the iLife 08 suite $79.00 plus Leopard $129 the total cost would be only $208.00 U.S which is still less than the Home Premium version of Vista and Vista HP does not have any business networking tools or drive encryption like Leopard.

The installer does give you the option. Before the install process begins there's one final screen with an "Customize" button bottom left. There you can pick and choose what you want to install or omit.
