Wake for network administrator access ?

Has anyone used this? What exactly does this mean? Can I ssh into a sleeping iBook and it'll automatically wake for me or something?

This is a really good question, one that I've wanted the answer to myself. Often my computer is asleep and I want to wake it to do SSH, remote destop, or ftp. I'd love to know how to wake it remotely.

It was an available option under OS 9, I'm almost sure...

I've noticed when I put my iBook or TiBook to sleep, it's ethernet connection remains when I look at my hub. I wonder if that's significant at all.

I used No-IP in the past to remotely ssh into my TiBook and it worked great, but having my machine wait in a sleep state would be pretty cool too. I wonder how one would go about putting it back to sleep again?

Kinda lame that you need Remote Desktop to use this function.. ARD isn't cheap.

Im sure theres alot more tools available to do WOL packets... Theres some advantages and disadvantages to this.

Like on our network at work, PCs power on for no reason at all and theres no tools sending WOL packets out. We think its the 3Com cards IDing one of the router config packets as WOL and going crazy :)
