We just received our new G5 dual 2GHz today at work. But we have a problem:

Is it possible to run Quark 5 (we don't have money left to buy Quark 6 for now) in classic on the G5 with OS X?

you can run quark in classic, but it's not a happy arrangement. we've got 4 G4s in the office, all running 9 because quark is so unpredictable in the classic environment -- expect hassle if you run it under X.

Thank you for the reply.

We already run quark 4 and 5 in classic on some G4 and G3. we have encounter some problems but its better than nothing (until we can upgrade to 6).

I was just asking to be sure that we won't run in more problems trying to run it on a G5 than on a G4.

Your accountant would have said, go for the 1.6 Ghz and spend the extra K on a couple of upgrades :D

Yeah, but the accountant has only basic knowledge about Mac (and computer in general). So she didn't check if the dual 2GHz was too much for the graphics dept or if the G5 would need up to date software to run, she only sign the autorization and the dept got the dual.

Now that they got the beast, it's time to ask for more money to upgrade the software so that they can use it...

I'm sure that, in a couple of weeks, they'll get the autorization to buy Quark 6.

What would you do if you were in their shoes:
1) ask for a G5 1.6 + Quark 6, or
2) ask for a G5 2x2GHz and then, after you received it (an nobody can take it back from you), ask more money for Quark 6.
