Hi,
I've done all the recent upgrades to OSX. I've noticed that certain apps crash consistently. Doesn't happen in Firefox. Anything I can do with Safari to prevent the crash?? I upgrade permissions monthly, but haven't since the upgrade. Might that help or not.

You're not the only one. Happens to me a ton.

I used to use Safari, then went to Firefox and now back to Safari with the Leopard. It's actually been pretty nice. I like the interface, but it's been strange since I applied all the updates this week. Even noticed on Calendar this morning, I can't open them up to check the notes I apply to certain events.

fjs08, you may need to be a bit more specific about your problem. Is Safari the only app crashing? If not, what other apps are crashing? Is Safari crashing on certain or specific sites?

Safari is crashing on my bank site when I try to print out my account summary. Never happened before.

Also, I had to just to a restart as I lost Expose feature.

Calendar wouldn't allow me to bring up an event.

Restarted and every command is met with the beach ball. Took about 5 seconds for my Calendar event to come up, then another 5 seconds to open the "edit" command on the event.

Seems sluggish!

Posting a crashlog is always useful for diagnosing crashes. Also, if you have any Safari addons (SafariStand, Saft, SpeedDownload, etc...), try removing those.

I agree with the handsome and intelligent Catfish_Man. Also while we're waiting, create a new user account and see if you get the same issues there. :)

The most common reason for safari crashes is plugins/hacks. Pithhelmet's input-manager hack (simbl???) would crash safari often - especially on espn.com. Not sure if they changed it since then but I know a good many plugins stll use simbl. Since I stop using these plugins I rarely have crashes witrh safari (save the 3 beta).

>>The most common reason for safari crashes is plugins/hacks.<<

haven't done anything other than the latest upgrades, etc. Seems like this week has been bad. On my banking site I'm still unable to print off the print command. I even tried Firefox and I can't even get anything to print there. THAT may be the site.

BTW, the Repair Permissions hasn't helped. Safari has crashed 3x today already. I may go back to Firefox. But I love the look of Safari<G>

I've also had several Safari crashes in the past few days. It didnt start until after i updated with the lastest software update on tuesday morning. Since then i've seen safari crash on Fltplan.com several times and just now on yahoo sports NHL page, and on the FoxNews website. I don't think i have any unusual plugins.

Where would i find the "Crash Log" so i can post it?

>>Where would i find the "Crash Log" so i can post it?<<

Is that what pops up when you say "yes" to send Apple a report on the crash???

Now might be a good time to check the new user account then. If everything's fine in the new account then you can almost be sure the problem is with a file in your original account's Home folder.

Well, I made a second user account and went back to a website where i know it's been consistently crashing and it did crash again.

Where would i find the crash log to post? the one that comes up to send a report to apple seems pretty big to copy and post here.

wanda, the crash logs can be accessed via an app called Console in the Utilities folder. :)

It looks like it might be your printer. Do you have an HP? If so, you might need to update the drivers or remove them entirely for the moment.

Well, i reinstaled the HP driver for my all in one printer, went back to the site that crashes and it did it yet again. heres the log from the last crash.

I don't use an HP, but the problem seems to be coming form HP Event Handler. Is that a separate app or component? If so, drag it to the Trash, restart and see how things go from there. :)

Found the hp event handler, tried to put it in the trash but it says i can't move it to the trash because it's open. i checked the dock and i dont have any printer apps open. weird...perhaps i should just uninstall the whole printer and start over.

My internet speed gets slower and slower. Safari, I've tried empty cache, check hard drive space, repair permissions, bitch at the ISP, nothing works, even changed DNS to open DNS, (that was worse) but the beach ball appears every time I sign out of Yahoo. 80% of the time I have to force quit and/or force shut down. Ridiculous. I've tried Firefox, but no better.

ANY IDEAS.......anyone else having this trouble

Help
