After OSX 10.5 reinstallation Time Machine was unable to automatically recognize previously recorded backups.
De-authorizing Time Machine external disk, and launching Time Machine again an option windows appears asking for previous backups. Selecting the external drive all backups are available and I can navigate through them with TM.
Two things can cause this. OSX re-installation has changed computer name. Second, special characters should be avoided (i.e. /*=' "., etc.)
I had both.
In Preferences/Sharing you can fix all of this.
Now the fix is still not there, since authorizing external drive, having restored appropriately local Hostname, Time Machine browsing is indeed showing previous dates backups but these ones are grayed and still cannot be accessed.
