Does anybody know of a replacement for Mac's command line Terminal app that enables the use of the home/pgup/pgdn/end keys to be transmitted via telnet? I'm a Unix programmer and I need a serious terminal application, similar to Finally Software's IVT for Windows, (except for the Mac).
Also, has anybody noticed that when logging into a Linux system from the Mac, telnet doesn't prompt for username? It starts by prompting for password, and I have to hit enter and force a failed login so that it prompts for the username. Why is that?
Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated.

I've noticed the login in thing, too. I think it users you login for the client machine as the default login name when telneting or SSHing. I think you need to use the -l username tag with your telnet command to use a different username for the server than the one your are logged in as on the client.
As for a telnet replacement, you can always try searching version tracker (http://www.versiontracker.com)

You might try installing Apple's X11 and using the provided xterm (or any other ported X11 terminal programs you can find). That might give you the functionality you need.
