View Full Version : Simple iTunes question

I recently bought the 40G iPod for my music of course but also as a backup hard drive.

Let's say my iPod is full of songs and my hard drive crashes. I get a new hard drive, and plug my iPod into the machine (of course iTunes will have no songs in it).

My question is:
Will my iPod load the songs that are on it INTO iTunes?

The reason why I am asking is because my thinking is, "Well I don't have to backup my music because it is on my iPod."

Someone let me know if my question is legit, :) thanks.

Not that I know of.

However there are programs, like Pod Manager, that let you copy songs back from the iPod to the Mac. Definitely worthwhile in getting this utility beforehand.

The iPod itself will not do it. Try ipodRIP. I don't have a link, search around for it. However, I would be worried if iTunes was last set on autosync, it will automatically sync up. So set it to manual before you ship it off or change drives.
