I have a G4 (Quicksilver) that I lost a hard drive on so I am rebuilding it. I have run the Software Restore cd's and have successfully restored to 9.2. The problem is, I can't upgrade to OS X (10.1). If I try to boot off the install cd it gets to the screen with the little computer icon in the middle, and the multi-colored "busy" wheel. The wheel spins a couple times, then just stops, and nothing further happens. If I go to the Startup Disk utility, it shows that OS X 10.1 (Build 5G64) is installed (as well as 9.2.1). If I select the System folder that has OS 10.1 as the startup disk and restart, the same thing happens on boot up (computer icon with multi-colored wheel). Any ideas? I've also tried installing Leopard but I get a kernel panic every time I try to boot from the DVD. I don't have any peripherals or additional hardware installed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
