Microsoft has decided to stop making the HD DVD add-on for its Xbox 360 games console after Toshiba abandoned the high definition DVD format.

Toshiba estimated last week that about 300,000 of the add-ons had been sold.

Not a huge surprise, really. I'll be keeping a hold of mine and buying a few cheap HD-DVDs.

hmmm i wonder when those add-ons will be going down in price. There was a customer that came in a few days ago wanting to get a ridiculous amount off the 360 add-on and several HD-DVDs because of the current HD-DVD events. Couldn't do anything about the price, but he was quite insistent in getting a HD-DVD player for real cheap, although it'll only last him for a year (at most).
