dragging photo files to esternal

Just got the imac a few weeks ago, so please excuse this rather elementary question but coming from a windows machine, I guess I need a little help.

I want to drag newly downloaded pics from my camera and copy them to my external hard drive.

When I go to my mac hd and click I see 2 iphoto icons. Clicking on the 1st one, brings up a screen that has the pics that I want to copy to my external but how do I do this?

Hi,

you can simply drag the photos out of iPhoto onto any folder on your external hard drive. This will copy them to the external drive.

To copy your entire iPhoto library (containing all your images) to the external drive, go to your Pictures directory and copy the file iPhoto Library to your external hard drive.

Depending on the number of pictures you have, this file can be quite big (several GB).
