I have an office mac running Filemaker and connected to the internet via an ethernet router.

I can connect to the Filemaker databases from home using Filemaker sharing, but the connection is not robust enough to handle data imports -- it takes forever and sometimes communication is lost.

So what I just thought of is I could access the office computer using Remote Desktop and perform the same import functions "locally".

I have no experience with Remote Desktop and would appreciate your thoughts on whether this might actually work or if not, what would. Thanks!

remote dekstop is a pretty pimp program. but whaty you may want to try is att's vnc server and client. it is free and simple to set up. go download it on versiontracker.com and follow the developer site for instructions on setting it up.
