hey gang, our network at work is horrible. though the macs (8 intel imacs) work from an intel xserve the performance is crap-tastic. anyway, my imac (running tiger) has has been suffering from spinning beach balls with the most simple of tasks.
so today i created a new user on the machine and network performance is nice and quick, no more beach balls.
So the question i am posing is: what is it that degrades LAN performance in tiger? log files? caches?
I'd much rather do the maintenance than have to create a new user every few months
TIA
