hey guys...im new to osx
been on windows for years just making the switch..i know in windows to remove an app you have to uninstall or remove it via add/remove programs ...my question is after i install an app to applications folder to remove it from my system do i simply drag it to the trash (assuming there is no uninstall with the program)

This question has been asked a number of times;

In a lot of cases yes, that's all you need to do.
If you want to be certain though, download an application called AppDelete. It's free and deletes everything.
You can get it from here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23149
There are others that you have to pay for, but in my opinion, this one works just as well.
You just start the app, then drag the application you want to delete to it and click the X in the bottom right corner. Done.
Cheers and welcome to OSX.

I kind of found AppZapper to work way better. FWIW.

There are preference/user/system files associated with many apps. They are kilobytes in size, but will accumulate over time in accordance with the number of apps you go through. AppZapper finds these files and deletes them when you delete the app.

honestly, i wouldn't worry about those "leftover" files. Just drag the application to the trash if you want to get rid of it.
