In Leopard there is a really nice feature that when you go to rename a file it doesn't include the suffix. So if I click twice on a file named foo.jpg, only the foo is in reverse video.

However this doesn't carry over to all files. If I have a file foo.debug for example the whole name is highlighted when I click twice on it.

Does anyone know how Leopard determines when to exclude the suffix on a file name?

thanks,
bobm

I guess it only does it for known file names. I just hit Enter to edit their names myself.
