View Full Version : Adobe Premiere Stability

Please, this thread is not about FCP, so I'd like not to hear about it.

I run Premiere 6.5, but I only have it for the PC. This is OK because I can use the PC as a rendering box. It's faster than my Mac anyway. It's also much quieter so it works great when on all night in my bedroom rendering a video. Anyway, Premiere is the only program that has ever frozen up the PC, and it does it whenever I try multi-tasking while rendering. It's a 2.4GHz P4 with hyperthreading, so it multitasks like I'm not even rendering, but after a while it will lock up Premiere. It's so annoying that I'd consider trying to trade my copy for the Mac version (as opposed to learning a new program; I do everything I need to in Premiere) and living with the lower speed.

Does anyone have experience with the Premiere on the Mac and heavy multi-tasking while outputing video? I'd assume it works better. Thanks.

Premiere has never been known for it's stability, nor its ease of use. If you want to stick to your PC platform you might want to check into Premiere Pro (a quantim leap over all previous versions).

Indeed. I wish it was more stable or I had learned on another platform. I'll have to look into Premiere Pro.

If you have a chance to play w/Premiere Pro be warned, it is a complete over haul of Premiere and could have probably been marked as a brand new product. So there will probably be a learning curve going from 6.5 to Pro.
