Have just unboxed my nw iMac 3.06 (with 8800 gs card) and tried to install bootcamp. I've done this many times on my Macbook Pro but every time I partition the disk and then restart with an XP or Vista disk in I get a message saying:-
MXM structure not found or invalid
The system waits 30 seconds and then continues........
Has anyone else had this - and solved it ?
I have the standard 2gb RAM installed.

All I can tell you about that error is it has something to do with your Geoforce 8800 card. There are quite a few posts about that error in the nVidia forums concerning the 8800 GS.
Does that error prevent you from installing XP or Vista?
Regards.

No - I've managed to get XP up and running but wonder if the performance has been affected by this.
At the moment its just an annoyance having to sit for 30 seconds through the error message each time I boot into XP.

Alright everyone, I believe I've found our only options. According to the Apple expert support fellow, there are only two ways to fix the MXM error:
1. Download and run the MXM 1.0 Update found at this link: www.apple.com/support/downloads/imacmxmupdate10.html
2. If that doesn't work (which is apparently quite likely), then the final and sure fix is to take your iMac to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (to find one in your area, call 1-800-263-3394) and have them replace the NVIDIA 8800 GS video card.
End of problem. Thanks so much to all who joined in this quest, and God bless.
