Hello, I'm sorry if this has been asked before and/or if this is the wrong place to post, but I am new here and I have no idea where this question would fall under.

My friend has made me a Data disc (data written on a DVD-R) using a PC (with windows XP) and I want to get that data off the disc onto my iMac. When I stick it into the drive, it tells me it's a blank disc and wont mount. Is there some software I need or can get to do this or what can I do if anything?

Thanks

My experience is that DVD-Rs are notoriously finicky about which drives can burn them and which drives can read them after they are burned. Even at that, DVD-Rs can quickly turn into coasters if exposed to light. Have your friend send you the data on a series of CDs instead.
