Hi, I made back up copies of my OSX10.3 install cds. My Mac is now acting up and I'd like to reinstall it but I am new to Macintosh's.
I have the .dmg files I created from my original OSX10.3 cds and when I double click them in OSX the disk mounts and becomes visible as an icon on the desktop. Then if i click the Icon on the desktop I can see all the files etc... BUT what I need to know is how to burn this mounted disc image as a bootable cd? I have tried dragging the Icon that the mounted disc image creates onto a blank cd I inserted and this doesn't work. Please can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I know this is probably a very basic problem but I am new to Mac's and trying to learn but have no idea what to do next, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in adveance

ed Open Disk Utility.
Select your disk image from the list.
Click on the "Burn" icon.
Insert a blank CD-R/RW into your optical drive.

Hi, I have opened disk utility, chosen my disc image from the list on the left but I can't find a burn icon? there are 5 tabs at the top which are information, first aid, erase, partition and raid. I am doing this in OSX, is this right? what else do i need to do?
thanks

If you made backups then why cant you use your originals? Am I missing something?
NB. The burn icon is the big "nuke" symbol at the top left of the disk utility program. Hard to miss.

Yeh I guess you are missing something, I don't have the originals here they are in London in my other house (I am in Manchester). But is that really relevant? And do you really care? Also there is no "nuke" symbol anywhere in Disk Utility, this is on OSX 10.1. And thanks for your help.
