A half downloaded game demo is on my desktop and I can't trash it. I have tried the "sudo rm -rf " (including the space after the f) and it doesn't work because I can't drag the file into the terminal window. I drag it and it won't drop into the window. I have tried permissions and anything else I can think of to get rid of it, but nothing works. HELP!

rm in the terminal and type the directory.
Just drag in another file on your desktop and replase the filename in the end.
This always works for me.

1. Rename the file to "remove.rtf"
2. Launch TextEdit (/Applications/TextEdit)
3. Choose File menu > Save As
4. Type: "remove" in the Save As field
5. Select the location where the file is located
6. Click Save, then Replace
7. Quit TextEdit
8. Drag remove.rtf to the Trash

Don't know that it's simple but... :)
That's what Apple's website says to do...

I have the same problem but only its a folder.
Its from a digital camera and some of the files were corrupted.
So now I have an empty folder on my desktop with a little lock on it
that I can't get rid of. I've tried all the tricks and tried unlocking ans soforth but nothing works. Can I use the text edit procedure to get rid of it.
