X-Plane quits after 10 mins (and it's a legit copy)

Despite having the DVD mounted, X-Plane (8.21) quits after ten minutes as if it were in demo mode. Help would be appreciated.

I don't remember, but is there a requirement to enter a serial number?

There is no space for a serial number.
Have you tried to restart with the dvd in and launch the sim. Otherwise contact Xplane tech support. I had some install issues with verson 9 and they were very helpful. I know they had a issue with time machine running and a few other minor issues. But they go me up and flying.

I'm assuming you are running a Mac? Delete your preferences and then try it. Delete everything under the preferences folder.
